WORKSHOP EVENT FOR OPTIMIST COACHES

3 days for OPTIMIST COACHES with  special speakers,  workshop on the shore and sea,  evening entertainment. The main philosophy of event is  ‘from coaches to coaches’  bringing coaches together and creating the moment  where  everyone can share and grow - all together!

OUR MODERATOR COACHES

The topics will be encouraged and discussions will be supported by our  world class coaches:

PAVLO DONTSOV

Coach  of one of the world’s best teams in 2022 - Ukraine team (Silver team in the Worlds,   numerous podiums and victories  in an international regattas)  and one of the last year’s most titled sailor Sviatoslav Madonich.

SANTIAGO LOPEZ

One of the most experienced  coaches  working with many talented and  recognized sailors. Master’s degree in Sport Science, currently head coach  of the Helsingfors Segelklubb (Finland).

 

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO

WORKSHOP

The first part of the  day will be organized on the shore as the round table of the optimist coaches who are  happy to learn and share their experience.

• Our moderator coaches will initiate the series of topics about boat handling tacks, jibes, marks rounding e.t.c.) 
• Together we will discuss each topic -  you are welcomed to give your opinion and vision, to use your videos
• Everyone is welcomed also to initiate his topic
• Don’t feel  like running  or discuss the topic? No problem, you can keep in silence , learn, relax, make the notes…. any level in which you decide to participate is  great!

P.S. You are allowed to argue and shout a little, but without fights 😊

SEA LAB

On the afternoon - all coaches together will have  a training session in the sea. We will be able to test and compare in the water how your opinions and  ideas work out in the real motion.   We will use the best world’s opti-sailors  as  an  ‘example sailors’  to  execute the demonstrations and tests.

SPECIAL SPEAKERS

We have invited 2 special guests to share their  tips, ideas  and experiences, answer all possible and impossible questions  you might have to grow your future champions.

Roberto Ferrarese - Multiple champion,  Olympian, member of Moro di Venezia team and  trainer of  the +39 Challenge dream team in the 2007 edition of the America's Cup, coach for the Federvela at the 2012 London Olympics and many other  Olympic sailors, holder of multiple degrees in  psychology.  Currently he is  one of most known  psychologists and mental trainers in the sailing world  with his extensive knowledge accompanying  sailors in their path versus victory. He also worked with Francesco Carrieri- first   time in the  National Team in age of 13 already a Bronze medal winner  in the Optimist World  Championship. 

Vasco Vascotto  -  one  of the world’s  most titled sailors of all the times -  25 World Championships, 25 Italian Championships and 15 European titles in different offshore monotype classes, from J/24 to TP52, from Farr 40 to ORC 670. He is also three-times winner of the MedCup and has won an edition of the Admiral’s Cup. He participated in two America’s Cup campaigns,   out of which the latest one   in the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team.

 

SAIL MAKING  WORKSHOP 

In our 600m2 sail loft we will have a chance to see how exactly ‘the sail is born’ starting from the designing,  assembling , all the way till the final sail.  You will have a chance to  understand why and how the sail models are different, what are the factors affecting the sail performance in various conditions,  how to  get the maximum out of the equipment.

 

ENTERTAINMENT

What would be the event without the great  hang out time!  After a long and productive day we  will have a chance to relax and chat in an unformal atmosphere.

Evening 1  - evening in one of the  most famous and important  wineries  in Friuli Venezia Giulia region with possibility to test the wines of the territory.

Evening 2 - dinner in the one of the best sea food restaurants in the area  -  Restaurant Eden -  VANILIJA   with chef Federico Sestan.

GETTING IN MONFALCONE

Highway E70, Exit ‘Monfalcone Est’,   Airport Trieste  is just 10 minutes drive ,  Airports Venice and Lubljana are about 1.5 hours of driving. There are  also a good train connection with Monfalcone and Trieste.  If you need the travel suggestion, please let us know and we will check together.  If you are coming without your own transport, once you get in Monfalcone or Trieste we will  organize the transport between hotel and locations😊

Il concetto principale attorno al quale verrà organizzato l’evento è la condivisione di conoscenze e competenze tra allenatori in un dialogo alla pari, il nostro obiettivo è favorire la crescita individuale e collettiva.

Allenatore della miglior squadra del 2022 - Squadra Ukraina (Medaglia di argento ai mondiali a squadre, numerosi podi e vittorie internazionali) allenatore di uno dei velisti più premiati degli ultimi anni Sviatoslav Madonich.

Santiago Lopez

Allenatore internazionale con esperienza ventennale nel settore, allenatore di atleti riconosciuti a livello mondiale. Attualmente responsabile della nazionale Finlandese giovanile.

 

Programma dell’evento:

Laboratorio: Tavola rotonda

 La prima parte della giornata verrà dedicata ai laboratori in modalità tavola rotonda, il confronto tra i coach avverrà nel seguente modo:

• I nostri moderatori avvieranno la discussione partendo da un argomento chiave
• Assieme si discuterà di ogni argomento, tutti i partecipanti potranno esprimere le proprie idee
• Sarà possibile portare nella discussione anche casi personali che possono essere  oggeto di studio
• I partecipanti potranno decidere il proprio livello di partecipazione durante le discussioni

Laboratorio: In acqua

Sedute di allenamento in acqua dove sarà possibile effettuare test ed applicare le idee direttamente su alcuni dei migliori velisti di livello internazionale

Ospiti d’onore

Avremo due ospiti d’onore, i quali saranno felici di condividere con i partecipanti idee, esperienze e i trucchi del mestiere.

 

Roberto Ferrarese

Pluri-medagliato, olimpionico e membro del Moro di Venezia, allenatore del dream team +39 Challenge nell’edizione del 2007 della Coppa America. Allenatore della federazione Italiana vela alle Olimpiadi estive di Londra 2012 e allenatore di numerosi Velisti Olimpionici. Uno tra i più famosi psicologi dello sport nell’ambito velico. Ha collaborato con Francesco Carrieri (Medaglia di bronzo ai mondiali optimist 2022) contribuendo al successo dell’atleta durante la corrente stagione sportiva.

Laboratorio in Veleria

 Presso il nostro loft (600m2 di superficie) potrete seguire passo a passo il processo di assemblaggio e rifinitura delle nostre vele, capendo il perché una vela si differenzi da un’altra e quali siano i fattori che ne determinano la prestazione.

 

 

Intrattenimento

Dopo una lunga giornata di lavoro avrete la possibilità di rilassarvi in un’atmosfera informale.

Serata 1- visita di una delle migliori cantine del Friuli Venezia Giulia, degustazione di vini.

Serata 2 - cena in uno dei migliori ristoranti di pesce della zona, Ristorante Eden (Chef Federico Sestan.
