After positive feedbacks and requests, we have decided to launch a second edition for the 3 days event for OPTIMIST COACHES. Practical and theoretical workshops, sharing of experience and ideas, work with the best athletes, insights from TOP experts . Philosophy of the event is ‘from coaches to coaches’ creating moment where everyone can share and grow - all together!

PAVLO DONTSOV
Coach of one of the world’s best teams in 2022 - Ukraine team (Silver team in the Worlds, numerous podiums and victories in an international regattas) and one of most titled sailor Sviatoslav Madonich.
SANTIAGO LOPEZ
One of the most experienced coaches working with many talented and recognized sailors. Master’s degree in Sport Science, currently head coach of the Helsingfors Segelklubb (Finland).
SPECIAL GUEST COACH
MICHELE RICCI
One of the most noted international judges, specialized in ‘RULES COACHING’, leading expert of Italian Optimist Association and GAN team. By being expert of team e match race he has given a significant contribution to lead Italian teams to the TOP results in an international level.
Other special guests might be added closer to the event.
MAIN TOPICS
Rigging: The coaches will be put in the condition to experiment different styles of rigging from classical way of settings to mythological technics.
Downwind: Study of different techniques of downwind sailing, putting emphasis on the application of the theory.
Maneuvers: Teaching the skill of tacking step by step with a didactic progression, the aim o the workshop is to identify the correct sequence of movements that allows different sailors to achieve a perfect tack.
Team race: after a high demand about the topic we decided to dedicate a full day going into the fascinating world of team race. Our didactic approach will touch the basics and the milestones of this discipline. World class sailors will demonstrate the blocks and strategies on the water.
WORK ORGANIZATION
After the experience of the first Coach event in 2022 we decided to adjust the program according to the requests advanced by the coaches. The core organization will remain untouched but the emphasis of the clinic will be redirected on the practical topics.
The schedule will be organized including the following didactic methods:
- Round Table discussions
- Try and explain method
- Video briefings
- Technical speeches
- Direct feedback - Coach to Athlete and Athlete to Coach
The moderators will open the discussion about the topics and display an engaging lesson that will end up in a mutual exchange of opinions.
For the 2nd edition of the CD coach clinic the aim is to be as much as possible on the water, applying the theory and exchanging thoughts with the coaches and athletes.
Our TOP CD sailors will be invited to show and try skills according to the program requests. Is a unique opportunity to establish a communication with the athletes in an environment without the stress of the competition.
The “special guest” figure has the purpose of inspiring the coaches, bringing on the table topics which are difficult to approach during the normal daily routine of a coach, reveling secrets and solving doubts.This year Michele Ricci, actual Team Race expert and International jury, will cover this position.
For the first time, the team race will be discuss in an international clinic and we are looking forward to it :)

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
WS1: Rigging
During this workshop, the coaches, will experience different styles of rigging with different types of gear. The organization will dipose different tipe of rigs and sails and the moderators will ask the participants to set the sails in different ways. All the settings will be tested also on the water.
WS2: The Downwind
The moderators will explain different styles of downwind and the theory behind them. The lesson will include videos and a practical session on the water.
WS3: Maneuvers
Tacks and jibes will be analyzed deeply, showing an example of didactic progression and correction of mistakes. The moderators will explain step by step the maneuvers answering to all the questions about the topic. The workshop will be followed by a session on the water to test the skills and capture images and videos.
WS 4: Team Race
Michele Ricci will explain from the basics of the discipline to the most difficult skills, the participants will be able to ask all the questions regarding the topic. A whole session will be dedicated to test the skills on the water.
LOCATION: CAMPIONE DEL GARDA (LAKE GARDA)
The training is organized in Campione Univela Hostel in Via Riccardo Cozzaglio 1, 25010 Campione del Garda, Italy www.campioneunivela.it Surrounded by trees and mountains on Lake Garda's shores, around 5 km. from Limone sul Garda and 19 km from Riva Del Garda, with a private beach, equipment and structure for the water sports. The rooms feature a balcony with mountain or lake views, TV, air conditioning, internet and private bathroom.
Getting There – we have not foreseen the organized transport , but if somebody needs a help to get in the location from Riva Del Garda or Limone sul Garda- just let us know , we will be happy to help.

COSTS OF THE WORKSHOP
PARTICIPATION FEE: 340 Eur for 3 days of workshop.
It also includes the official C.s.e.n (Italian Amateur sports association) membership card which we are requested to provide for the participants of the public sports events.
Once we have confirmed your registration we will provide you an invoice that can be paid by a standard bank transfer.
ACCOMODATION AND MEALS
FULL PACKAGE: 130 Eur for 3 days
The training, accommodation and meals are organized all in the same place - Campione Univela. We have agreed on special collaboration prices of the event - 130 Eur for 3 days with a following package:
- overnight stay – 2 nights (3.11 - 5.11 ) in the double room shared with another coach
- breakfast (4.11 ; 5.11)
- lunch (3.11; 4.11; 5.11)
- dinner (3.11 ; 4.11)
In case you need to modify the participant package – to shorten or prolong your stay , that’s not a problem. In this case please check up directly with the location the costs of your stay in line with your travelling plans and reserved prices for the Coach Event participants.
ONLY LUNCH 3 DAYS: 35 Eur
In case you don’t need an overnight stay, please feel to organize your presence in line with the training hours, though the common dinner time sharing and discussing the experience of the day is a great moment and we will miss you 😊
In this case you can choose to participate in the common lunch - costs of 35 Eur for 3 days , or grab something from the restaurant menu on your choice.
